This law lets the Smithsonian's Regents decide how to spend leftover interest income. This applies to interest not already set aside for other purposes in this law. The Regents must use it in a way that furthers James Smithson's original purpose.
This section lets the Smithsonian's Board of Regents decide what to do with leftover interest income.
If money has accrued, or will accrue, as interest on the Smithsonian fund, and it hasn't been appropriated elsewhere in this law or isn't needed for the purposes this law already provides for, the Regents may dispose of it as they see fit, as long as they use it in whatever way they judge best promotes the purpose of James Smithson, the fund's original donor (referred to here as "the testator").
