The President may remove the Director, Board members, and Commissioner for Education Statistics before their terms end. The Director may similarly remove Commissioners the Director appointed.
(a) Presidential. The President may remove the Director*, each Board* member, and the Commissioner for Education Statistics before that appointee's term ends.
(b) Director. The Director may remove before the term ends each Commissioner whom the Director appointed under section 9517.
The Director*, each member of the Board*, and the Commissioner for Education Statistics may be removed by the President prior to the expiration of the term of each such appointee.
Each Commissioner appointed by the Director pursuant to section 9517 of this title may be removed by the Director prior to the expiration of the term of each such Commissioner.
