20 U.S.C. § 9705 — Commission personnel matters

Commission members receive no extra pay, but they may receive authorized travel expenses. The Treasury’s financial-education office must assist the Commission when asked, and Federal employees may be detailed to it without losing their civil-service status or benefits.
(a) A Commission* member serves without extra compensation beyond the pay the member receives as a United States officer or employee.
(b) Commission members may receive travel expenses, including a daily amount instead of subsistence, at the rates authorized for agency employees under title 5, while away from home or their regular workplaces performing Commission services.
(c)(1) When the Commission asks, the Director of the Treasury Department’s Office of Financial Education must assist the Commission without reimbursement.
(2) Any Federal employee may be detailed to the Commission without reimbursement. The detail must not interrupt or reduce the employee’s civil-service status or privileges.
Each member of the Commission* shall serve without compensation in addition to that received for their service as an officer or employee of the United States.
The members of the Commission shall be allowed travel expenses, including per diem in lieu of subsistence, at rates authorized for employees of agencies under subchapter I of chapter 57 of title 5, while away from their homes or regular places of business in the performance of services for the Commission.
The Director of the Office of Financial Education of the Department of the Treasury shall provide assistance to the Commission, upon request of the Commission, without reimbursement.
Any Federal Government employee may be detailed to the Commission without reimbursement, and such detail shall be without interruption or loss of civil service status or privilege.
