This section gives “Philippine Government” two meanings depending on when it is used. Before independence it means the Government of the Commonwealth of the Philippines; afterward it means the Government of the Republic of the Philippines.
For this subchapter, “Philippine Government” means “Government of the Commonwealth of the Philippines” until the date of independence. After independence, it means “Government of the Republic of the Philippines.”
For the purposes of this subchapter the term “Philippine Government” shall mean “Government of the Commonwealth of the Philippines” until the date of independence, and thereafter it shall mean the “Government of the Republic of the Philippines”.
