The President may choose an executive-branch department or agency to arrange United States participation in the Inter-American Cultural and Trade Center, called “Interama” in this chapter. In doing so, the President must cooperate with the Inter-American Center Authority, an agency of Florida.
The purposes of Interama are: (1) to provide a permanent international center where governments and industries of the Western Hemisphere and other parts of the world can meet; (2) to support broad, continuing exchanges of ideas, people, and products through cultural, educational, and other exchanges; and (3) by other suitable means, to promote mutual understanding among the peoples of the Western Hemisphere and strengthen the ties between the United States and other nations of the free world.
