This section establishes a Treasury fund for separation payments to qualifying Peace Corps contractors. It authorizes deposits and makes the money available for legally authorized payments beginning in fiscal year 2007.
(a) Establishment of fund. The Treasury of the United States* must have a Peace Corps fund for separation pay for Peace Corps host-country resident personal-services contractors.
(b) Funding. The Peace Corps Director may put into that fund (1) amounts previously obligated and not canceled for that separation pay, and (2) amounts obligated for fiscal years after fiscal year 2006 for current and future separation-pay costs.
(c) Availability. Starting in fiscal year 2007, deposited amounts are available without a fiscal-year limit for severance, retirement, or other separation payments to host-country resident Peace Corps personal-services contractors in countries where the law authorizes those payments.
There is established in the Treasury of the United States* a fund for the Peace Corps to provide separation pay for host country resident personal services contractors of the Peace Corps.
The Director of the Peace Corps may deposit in the fund established under subsection (a)—
amounts previously obligated and not canceled to provide the separation pay described in such subsection; and
amounts obligated for fiscal years after fiscal year 2006 for current and future costs of providing such separation pay.
Beginning in fiscal year 2007, amounts deposited in the fund established under subsection (a) shall be available without fiscal year limitation for severance, retirement, or other separation payments to host country resident personal services contractors of the Peace Corps in countries where such payments are legally authorized.
