22 U.S.C. § 277d–36Sale of excess land

submitted 54 years ago by Pub. L. 92-549 to r/title-22-FOREIGN-RELATIONS-AND-INTERCOURSE · 118 words · no verdicts yet

The Commissioner can sell land the United States acquired for these border projects but no longer needs, offering it to adjoining landowners at a fair price the Commissioner sets. If it isn't sold that way, the General Services Administration disposes of it under standard federal property-disposal law.

The Commissioner may dispose of, by warranty deed or other means, any land acquired on the government's behalf — or obtained through a U.S.-Mexico treaty — that is no longer needed for the project. Following procedures the Commissioner sets, the land can be sold to adjoining landowners at a price the Commissioner considers fair and equitable. If the land isn't disposed of this way, it goes to the General Services Administration to be disposed of under the standard federal property-disposal laws in title 40 and title 41.
