22 U.S.C. § 455 — General penalty provision

Breaking this subchapter, or a rule made under it, is a crime, if no specific penalty already applies. A person convicted can be fined up to $10,000. They can also be jailed for up to two years, or both.
If someone violates any part of this subchapter, or any rule or regulation issued under it, and no specific penalty is already set for that violation, the violator — once convicted — can be fined up to $10,000, or imprisoned up to two years, or both.
In every case of the violation of any of the provisions of this subchapter or of any rule or regulation issued pursuant thereto where a specific penalty is not provided in this subchapter, such violator or violators, upon conviction, shall be fined not more than $10,000, or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.
