25 U.S.C. § 10 — Employee to sign letters

The Commissioner of Indian Affairs can pick an employee to sign official letters. The Secretary of the Interior must approve this. That employee's signature counts the same as the Commissioner's own signature.
The Commissioner of Indian Affairs may designate an employee of the Indian Office to sign letters that normally need the commissioner's or assistant commissioner's signature. The Secretary* of the Interior must approve this designation.
Once designated, any letter that employee signs has the same legal force and effect as if the commissioner or assistant commissioner had signed it personally.
The Commissioner of Indian Affairs, with the approval of the Secretary* of the Interior, may designate an employee of the Indian Office to sign letters of that office requiring the signature of the commissioner or assistant commissioner, and all signatures of such employee while acting under such designation shall have the same force and effect as if made by said commissioner or assistant commissioner.
