25 U.S.C. § 3115b — Tribal forest management demonstration project

(a) The Interior Secretary^* and the Secretary may conduct demonstration projects under which federally recognized Indian Tribes or Tribal organizations contract, through the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act, to perform administrative, management, and other functions of Tribal Forest Protection Act programs. (b) For a contract or project: (1) on National Forest System land, the Secretary must perform all functions delegated to Interior’s Secretary under the Self-Determination Act; (2) the applicable Secretary must make decisions required under the National Environmental Policy Act and the Tribal Forest Protection Act; and (3) the contract or project must be made under and follow section 403(b)(2) of the Self-Determination Act.
