25 U.S.C. § 391 — Continuance of restrictions on alienation in patent

Before an Indian allottee's trust period ends, the President may extend restrictions on selling that land. The President decides, at his discretion, how long the extension lasts. This rule does not apply to land in the former Indian Territory.
Before the trust period ends for any Indian allottee who received (or will receive) a trust patent or another patent restricting the sale of the land, the President may, at his discretion, keep those restrictions in place for as long as he decides is best. This rule, however, does not apply to land located in what was formerly Indian Territory.
Prior to the expiration of the trust period of any Indian allottee to whom a trust or other patent containing restrictions upon alienation has been or shall be issued under any law or treaty the President may, in his discretion, continue such restrictions on alienation for such period as he may deem best: Provided, however, That this shall not apply to lands in the former Indian Territory.
