Federal agencies must help Native American communities present their heritage and support authentic visitor experiences. Certain travel and tourism grants may fund these efforts, and the Smithsonian must pursue partnerships supporting them.

(a) Each agency head must (1) help tribes and Native Hawaiian organizations present their heritage, food, traditions, history, and continuing vitality; (2) support identifying and maintaining features that preserve local distinctiveness and providing authentic, respectful visitor experiences; (3) help explain connections between Indigenous peoples and United States national identity; (4) promote understanding and respect for diverse United States cultures and their importance to the national brand; and (5) create appropriate agreements and public-private partnerships so airport travelers and port-of-entry visitors are welcomed while Native American diversity is both shown and respected. (b) As practicable, eligible tribes and organizations may use travel, recreation, and tourism grant programs administered by the listed officials or agencies to (1) tell the story of Native Americans as the United States' First Peoples; (2) use arts and humanities to revitalize communities, promote economic development, improve livability, and present United States uniqueness while celebrating diversity; and (3) carry out this section. (c) The Smithsonian Advisory Council and Board of Regents must work with tribes, organizations, and nonprofits to create long-term partnerships with non-Smithsonian museums and educational and cultural groups to (1) share collections, exhibitions, interpretive materials, and educational methods and (2) conduct joint research and projects supporting tourism and this section's purpose.
