25 U.S.C. § 5636 — Cost savings

(a) Generally. For each Office of the Special Trustee program, function, service, activity, or part of one that will no longer operate because functions and personnel are transferred after this chapter is enacted, the Secretary^* must (1) identify what the Secretary otherwise would have spent to operate it and (2) give the tribal representatives of the Tribal-Interior Budget Council, or another appropriate entity advising on Indian-program budgets or funding, a list^* describing (A) each identified program, function, service, activity, or part and (B) its associated amount. (b) Tribal recommendations. Within 90 days after receiving the list, those tribal representatives and representatives of other appropriate advising entities may recommend how amounts or savings should be reallocated, included in future budget requests, or appropriated to (1) the Secretary, (2) the Office of Management and Budget, (3) the House Appropriations Committee, (4) the House Natural Resources Committee, (5) the Senate Appropriations Committee, and (6) the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs.
