If a federal district judge's position becomes vacant, the court clerk keeps pending cases and paperwork moving as needed. This continues until a new judge is appointed or assigned to that court.
When a district* judge's office becomes vacant, the clerk of the court must, when necessary, keep all pending legal process, pleadings, and proceedings moving forward. The clerk continues doing this until a judge is appointed or designated to hold court there.
When the office of a district* judge becomes vacant, all pending process, pleadings and proceedings shall, when necessary, be continued by the clerk until a judge is appointed or designated to hold such court.
