28 U.S.C. § 598 — Severability

If a provision of this chapter is invalid, the rest of the chapter remains effective when possible.
If a court holds a provision of this chapter, or its application to a person or circumstance, invalid, the rest of the chapter and the provision’s application to other people or circumstances are not affected.
If any provision of this chapter or the application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of this chapter and the application of such provision to other persons not similarly situated or to other circumstances shall not be affected by such invalidation.
