29 U.S.C. § 106 — Responsibility of officers and members of associations or their organizations for unlawful acts of individual officers, members, and agents
submitted 94 years ago by ch. 90 to r/title-29-LABOR · 68 words · no verdicts yet
This law protects union officers and members from personal liability in federal court. They can't be held responsible for another officer's, member's, or agent's illegal acts during a labor dispute. The only exception: clear proof they actually took part, authorized, or later approved the act.
No officer or member of any association or organization, and no association or organization participating or interested in a labor dispute, shall be held responsible or liable in any court of the United States for the unlawful acts of individual officers, members, or agents, except upon clear proof of actual participation in, or actual authorization of, such acts, or of ratification of such acts after actual knowledge thereof.
