Twenty years after August 11, 1955, covered lands are withdrawn from all forms of entry under this chapter and most claims expire. The President may delay that result to 30 years by Executive order, and two kinds of patent claims are excepted.
Twenty years after August 11, 1955, all land covered by section 541 of this title must be withdrawn from every form of entry under this chapter. At that time, every claim made under this chapter expires, except: (1) a claim for which a patent has already been issued; and (2) a claim for which a patent application has already been filed and a patent is later issued. However, if the President provides by Executive order, this section does not take effect until 30 years after August 11, 1955.
Twenty years after August 11, 1955, all lands subject to the provisions of section 541 of this title shall be withdrawn from all forms of entry under this chapter. All claims made pursuant to the provisions of this chapter shall expire at that time, except for (1) claims for which patent has already been issued, and (2) claims on which application for patent has already been made and on which patent is subsequently issued: Provided, That, if the President shall so provide by Executive order, the provisions of this section shall not become effective until thirty years after August 11, 1955.
