34 U.S.C. § 30308 — Requirement that accreditation organizations adopt accreditation standards

(a) Eligibility for Federal grants. No matter what any other law says, an organization that accredits federal, state, local, or private prisons, jails, or other penal facilities cannot get any new federal grants during any period when it fails to meet the requirements in subsection (b). (b) Requirements. To stay eligible for federal grants, the organization must meet two requirements. (1) Starting 90 days after September 4, 2003, the organization must always have accreditation standards in effect, for every facility it accredits, that cover detecting, preventing, reducing, and punishing prison rape. (2) Starting one year after the final rule under section 30307(a)(4) of this title is adopted, the organization must also adopt accreditation standards that match the national standards created by that final rule. This is on top of any other prison-rape standards the organization already has.
