The Attorney General must issue guidance to run the Program and keep grant control local. Thirty percent of each year's grants must go to Gang Task Forces fighting organized violent crime. Grants must prioritize prosecuting leaders of these criminal organizations.
(a) In general. The Attorney General must issue guidance to create, run, and administer the Program* consistent with this section.
(b) Funds to be directed to local control. Grant money under the Program must be, as much as practical, controlled locally, so it addresses problems identified at the local level.
(c) Task Forces. Thirty percent of the Program's grant money each fiscal year must go to Gang Task Forces in regions that are seeing a significant or increased presence of criminal or transnational organizations involved in high levels of violent crime, firearms offenses*, human trafficking, and drug trafficking.
(d) Priority. Program grant money must prioritize investigating and prosecuting individuals who play an aggravating or leadership role in the kind of criminal or transnational organization described in subsection (c).
The Attorney General shall issue guidance to create, carry out, and administer the Program* in accordance with this section.
Amounts made available as grants under the Program shall be, to the greatest extent practicable, locally controlled to address problems that are identified locally.
Thirty percent of the amounts made available as grants under the Program each fiscal year shall be granted to Gang Task Forces in regions experiencing a significant or increased presence of criminal or transnational organizations engaging in high levels of violent crime, firearms offenses*, human trafficking, and drug trafficking.
Amounts made available as grants under the Program shall be used to prioritize the investigation and prosecution of individuals who have an aggravating or leadership role in a criminal or transnational organization described in subsection (c).
