34 U.S.C. § 60908 — Withholding information

Agencies don't have to hand over information that would put someone in danger. The same goes for info that would block an investigation, break a court order, or violate privacy law.
This chapter never requires an agency* to hand over information if doing so would: endanger anyone's safety; unreasonably get in the way of an ongoing investigation; violate a court order; or violate the agency's legal privacy obligations.
Nothing in this chapter shall require an agency* to provide information that would endanger the safety of any person, unreasonably impede an ongoing investigation, violate a court order, or violate legal obligations regarding privacy.
