May 22 is National Maritime Day. Each year, the President is requested to issue a proclamation urging Americans to fly the U.S. flag at home. The proclamation also asks federal officials to fly the flag on government buildings that day.
May 22 is National Maritime Day.
The President is requested to issue each year a proclamation calling on—
the people of the United States to observe National Maritime Day by displaying the flag of the United States at their homes or other suitable places; and
United States Government officials to display the flag on all Government buildings on National Maritime Day.
