36 U.S.C. § 22504 — Powers

The corporation has typical corporate powers. It can adopt bylaws, a seal, and emblems, run offices, and set up local chapters. It can also own property, publish a magazine, sue or be sued, and do other things needed to meet its goals.
The corporation may do the following things.
(1) Adopt a constitution, bylaws, and regulations.
(2) Adopt and change a corporate seal.
(3) Adopt emblems and badges.
(4) Set up and run offices for its activities.
(5) Create State, territorial, and local subdivisions.
(6) Acquire, own, lease, mortgage, and transfer property as needed for its purposes — but this power is limited by the property restriction in section 22506(b).
(7) Publish a magazine and other publications.
(8) Sue other people or organizations, and be sued by them.
(9) Do any other act that is necessary and proper to carry out its purposes.
The corporation may—
adopt a constitution, bylaws, and regulations;
adopt and alter a corporate seal;
adopt emblems and badges;
establish and maintain offices to conduct its activities;
establish State, territorial, and local subdivisions;
acquire, own, lease, encumber, and transfer property as necessary to carry out the purposes of the corporation, subject to section 22506(b) of this title;
publish a magazine and other publications;
sue and be sued; and
do any other act necessary and proper to carry out its purposes.
