37 U.S.C. § 1015 — Recordation of installment payment obligations for incentive pays and similar benefits

When covered pay or benefits for a uniformed-service member are paid in installments, each installment uses funds available when that installment is payable.
(a) In general. If pay*, an allowance, bonus, or other benefit described in subsection (b) is paid to a uniformed-service member* in installments, charge each installment to appropriations available for obligation when that installment is payable. (b) Covered pay and benefits. This rule covers incentive pay, special pay, bonuses, similar periodic pay or allowances, and educational benefits or stipends paid under title 37 or title 10.
In the case of any pay*, allowance, bonus, or other benefit described in subsection (b) that is paid to a member* of the uniformed services* on an installment basis, each installment payment shall be charged to appropriations that are available for obligation at the time such payment is payable.
Subsection (a) applies to any incentive pay, special pay, or bonus, or similar periodic payment of pay or allowances, or of educational benefits or stipends, that is paid to a member of the uniformed services under this title or title 10.
