38 U.S.C. § 1504 — Persons heretofore having a pensionable status

People whom the law previously recognized as having pensionable status may receive pension benefits under subchapters II and III of this chapter. The usual service requirements in those subchapters do not apply to them.
The pension* benefits provided by subchapters II and III of this chapter must be granted to people whom the law previously recognized as having pensionable status, even if they do not meet those subchapters’ service requirements.
The pension* benefits of subchapters II and III of this chapter shall, notwithstanding the service requirements of such subchapters, be granted to persons heretofore recognized by law as having a pensionable status.
