38 U.S.C. § 3741 — Definitions

For this subchapter: (1) “disabled veteran^*” means (A) a veteran entitled to compensation^* under laws administered by the Secretary^* for a disability rated at least 30%, or (B) a veteran discharged or released from active duty^* because of a disability incurred or aggravated in line of duty. This section does not otherwise define “veteran” or “line of duty.” (2) “veteran of the Vietnam era^*” means a person (A) who served on active duty more than 180 days, any part during the Vietnam era, and was discharged or released with other than a dishonorable discharge, or (B) discharged or released from active duty for a service-connected^* disability if any part of that duty occurred during the Vietnam era. This section does not define “Vietnam era” or “service-connected disability.”
