Participants must work full-time at a Vet Center for the service period set in their agreement. The VA must notify each participant of their start date at least 60 days early. That start date marks the beginning of the required service period.
(a) In General — Every participant in the Program must work full-time for the Department* at a Vet Center. They must work for the length of time called the "period of obligated service," as set in the agreement signed under section 7604.
(b) Determination of Service Commencement Date — (1) The Secretary* must tell each participant their service start date at least 60 days before that date arrives. (2) The date the Secretary gives is the day the participant's period of obligated service officially begins.
Each participant in the Program shall provide service as a full-time employee of the Department* at a Vet Center (as defined in section 7699(d) of this title) for the period of obligated service set forth in the agreement of the participant entered into under section 7604 of this title.
Not later than 60 days before the service commencement date of a participant, the Secretary* shall notify the participant of that service commencement date.
The date specified in paragraph (1) with respect to a participant is the date for the beginning of the period of obligated service of the participant.
