38 U.S.C. § 8214 — Limitations

The Secretary can help start no more than eight new medical schools under this law. These schools must be spread out across different parts of the country.
This section is one undivided provision. It limits the Secretary's power under this subchapter — the pilot program described in section 8213 — in two ways. First, the Secretary* cannot help create more than eight new medical schools in total. Second, those schools must be located in geographically dispersed areas of the United States, meaning spread across different regions rather than clustered together.
The Secretary* may not use the authority under this subchapter to assist in the establishment of more than eight new medical schools. Such schools shall be located in geographically dispersed areas of the United States.
