Before the Appalachian Regional Commission awards a large grant, it must tell two congressional committees at least three business days ahead of time. This notice requirement applies to grants of $50,000 or more.
(a) In General — For a project described in (b), the Commission must notify the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works that it is awarding a grant or other financial assistance, at least 3 full business days before actually awarding it.
(b) Projects Described — A covered project is one the Commission has chosen to receive a grant or other financial assistance under this subtitle of at least $50,000.
In the case of a project described in subsection (b), the Appalachian Regional Commission shall provide to the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Environment and Public Works of the Senate notice of the award of a grant or other financial assistance not less than 3 full business days before awarding the grant or other financial assistance.
A project referred to in subsection (a) is a project that the Appalachian Regional Commission has selected to receive a grant or other financial assistance under this subtitle in an amount not less than $50,000.
