42 U.S.C. § 14335 — Limitations on sale of other mercuric-oxide batteries

(a) Prohibition — On or after May 13, 1996, no person may sell, offer for sale, or offer for promotional purposes a mercuric-oxide battery for use in the U.S. unless the battery's manufacturer or importer (1) identifies a U.S. collection site, with all required federal, state, and local approvals, where people can send used mercuric-oxide batteries for recycling or proper disposal; (2) tells each buyer of its mercuric-oxide batteries about that collection site; and (3) tells each buyer a phone number they can call for information on sending the batteries in for recycling or proper disposal. (b) Application of section — This section does not apply to selling or offering a mercuric-oxide button cell battery.
