42 U.S.C. § 16279c — Organization and administration of programs

(a) Coordination Running this part of the law, the Secretary must coordinate activities and manage overlapping research priorities across the Department and other relevant federal agencies, including the National Laboratories. (b) Collaboration (1) In general. The Secretary must work with industry, National Laboratories, other federal agencies, universities (including minority-serving institutions and those with research reactors), Tribal entities (including Alaska Native Corporations), and international scientific groups. (2) Participation. As much as practical, the Secretary must encourage research projects that bring these groups together. (c) Dissemination of results and public availability Except for information protected from disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act, the Secretary must publish project results through Department websites, reports, databases, training materials, and industry conferences — including things discovered after a project ends. (d) Education and outreach The Secretary must support education and outreach that shares information and builds public understanding of nuclear energy. (e) Technical assistance The Secretary must also provide technical, nonhardware, and information-based help and analysis, including support for using nuclear energy in rural, Tribal, and low-income communities. (f) Program review At least once a year, every program in this part must be reviewed by the Department's Nuclear Energy Advisory Committee or another independent group, as appropriate. (g) Sensitive information The Secretary cannot publish information from this part that the Secretary decides would harm national security.
