42 U.S.C. § 17203 — International geothermal energy development

(a) In general: The Secretary of Energy, working with other relevant federal and multilateral agencies (including the U.S. Agency for International Development), must support joint efforts with international partners to promote research, development, and demonstration of technology for hydrothermal and enhanced geothermal resources. (b) United States Trade and Development Agency: The Director of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency may (1) encourage U.S. companies to take part in the efforts described in subsection (a), and (2) give grants and other financial support for feasibility and resource-assessment studies done in, or meant to benefit, less developed countries.
