The bravery medal is named the Young American Medal for Bravery, and the character-and-service medal is named the Young American Medal for Service. The President personally presents them for the President and Congress.
(a) The bravery or valor medal described in section 1921 is called the Young American Medal for Bravery. The medal for outstanding character and service described in section 1922 is called the Young American Medal for Service. The President of the United States must personally present these medals for, on behalf of, and in the name of the President and Congress of the United States of America.
The medal to be awarded for bravery or valor as defined in section 1921 of this title shall be known as the Young American Medal for Bravery, while the medal for outstanding character and service as defined in section 1922 of this title shall be known as the Young American Medal for Service, and such medals shall be presented personally by the President of the United States for and on behalf, and in the name of the President and the Congress of the United States of America.
