submitted 80 years ago by ch. 724 to r/title-42-THE-PUBLIC-HEALTH-AND-WELFARE · 134 words · no verdicts yet

in plain englishAI-generated · not legal advice

The Commission must control Restricted Data so that common defense and security are protected. It must generally withhold the data from other nations until effective international safeguards exist, while allowing and encouraging scientific and technical exchange.

The Commission's policy is to control the sharing and declassification of Restricted Data in a way that protects the common defense and security. (a) Until an international arrangement creates effective and enforceable safeguards against using atomic energy for destructive purposes, Restricted Data may not be exchanged with another nation except as section 2164 permits. (b) Scientific and technical information about atomic energy should be shared and encouraged so that free exchange of ideas and criticism supports scientific and industrial progress, public understanding, and a larger body of technical information.
