42 U.S.C. § 2280 — Injunction proceedings

If the Commission believes a person has violated or is about to violate this chapter or a related rule or order, the Attorney General may seek a court order stopping the conduct or enforcing compliance.
When the Commission* judges that a person has engaged, or is about to engage, in conduct that violates or will violate this chapter or a regulation or order issued under it, the Attorney General, for the United States, may ask the proper court for an order enjoining the conduct or enforcing compliance. If the Commission shows that the person has engaged or is about to engage in that conduct, the court may issue a permanent or temporary injunction, restraining order, or other order.
Whenever in the judgment of the Commission* any person has engaged or is about to engage in any acts or practices* which constitute or will constitute a violation of any provision of this chapter, or any regulation or order issued thereunder, the Attorney General on behalf of the United States may make application to the appropriate court for an order enjoining such acts or practices, or for an order enforcing compliance with such provision, and upon a showing by the Commission that such person has engaged or is about to engage in any such acts or practices, a permanent or temporary injunction, restraining order, or other order may be granted.
