42 U.S.C. § 242r — Improvement and publication of data on food-related allergic responses

This section requires better data collection on food allergies. (a) In general. The Secretary of Health and Human Services, through the CDC Director and in consultation with the Commissioner of Food and Drugs, must improve — including by educating doctors and other health providers — the collection of national data on: (1) how common food allergies are; (2) how often serious or clinically significant reactions to food allergies happen; and (3) what treatments and prevention methods are used for food allergy reactions. The Secretary must publish this data as it becomes available. (b) Authorization of appropriations. Congress authorized appropriating whatever money is necessary to carry out this section.
