The Secretary, through the CDC Director, may help states set up and run statewide cancer registries. This help can come directly, or through grants and contracts, or both. It can include drafting model registry laws and building computerized reporting and data systems.
The Secretary* of Health and Human Services, acting through the Director* of the Centers for Disease Control, may provide technical assistance to states in establishing and operating statewide cancer registries. A registry is a system that tracks cancer cases.
The Secretary can provide this assistance directly, through grants and contracts, or both.
This assistance can include two specific things: helping states develop model legislation for statewide cancer registries, and helping states build a computerized system for reporting cancer cases and processing the data.
The Secretary*, acting through the Director* of the Centers for Disease Control, may, directly or through grants and contracts, or both, provide technical assistance to the States in the establishment and operation of statewide registries, including assistance in the development of model legislation for statewide cancer registries and assistance in establishing a computerized reporting and data processing system.
