42 U.S.C. § 283a–1 — Annual reporting to prevent fraud and abuse

(a) Whistleblower complaints: (1) In general: Every year, the Director of NIH must send a report on NIH's handling of whistleblower complaints. This report goes to the Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services, the Secretary, the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, the House Committee on Appropriations, the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, and the Senate Committee on Appropriations. (2) Contents: For every whistleblower complaint that was pending at any point during the year covered by the report, the report must name which NIH agency or agencies were involved, describe the current status of the complaint, and describe how it has been resolved so far. (b) First report: The first report required under subsection (a) had to be submitted no later than one year after January 15, 2007.
