42 U.S.C. § 285b–7c — Tuberculosis

(a) In general. The Director of NIH may expand, intensify, and coordinate the Institutes' research and related activities on tuberculosis, including work aimed at eliminating the disease. (b) Certain activities. This may include: (1) strengthening basic and clinical research on tuberculosis, including drug-resistant tuberculosis; (2) expanding research into the relationship between tuberculosis and HIV; and (3) developing new tools to eliminate tuberculosis, including public health measures and better ways to detect and respond to tuberculosis outbreaks, including multidrug-resistant tuberculosis.
