42 U.S.C. § 296e–1 — Grants for health professions education

(a) Cultural competency, prevention, and public health and individuals with disability grants. The Secretary, acting through the Administrator of the Health Resources and Services Administration, may award grants, contracts, or cooperative agreements to eligible entities. The money funds developing, evaluating, and sharing research, demonstration projects, and model curricula on cultural competency, prevention, public health skills, reducing health disparities, and training for working with people with disabilities — for use in health professions schools and continuing education programs, and for other purposes the Secretary approves. These grants follow the same rules as grants under a named section. (b) Collaboration. In carrying out (a), the Secretary must work with the entities described in that same named section, and must coordinate with the curricula and research and demonstration projects built under it. (c) Dissemination. Model curricula built under this section must be shared and evaluated the same way as model curricula built under that named section. (d) Authorization of appropriations. Congress may appropriate whatever sums are necessary to carry out this section for each of fiscal years 2010 through 2015.
