42 U.S.C. § 300hh–17 — Emergency response coordination of primary care providers

This section, which is not divided into lettered subsections, requires the Secretary — acting through the Administrator of the Health Resources and Services Administration and coordinating with the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response — to do two things: (1) Give guidance and technical help to health centers funded under section 254b, and to state and local health departments and emergency managers, so those health centers get folded into state and local emergency response plans and can better meet primary care needs during public health emergencies. (2) Encourage employees at those funded health centers to join emergency medical response programs, including the National Disaster Medical System (section 300hh–11), the Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps (section 300hh–15), and the Emergency System for Advance Registration of Health Professions Volunteers (section 247d–7b).
