This section appropriates $33,849,000 for the Office of Inspector General. It also authorizes using necessary amounts for protective services for the Secretary and for investigating certain Federal child-support nonpayment cases.
The amount appropriated for the Office of Inspector General’s expenses in carrying out the Inspector General Act of 1978, as amended, is $33,849,000. Necessary amounts from that sum may be used to provide protective services to the Secretary* and to investigate child-support nonpayment cases when the nonpayment is a Federal offense under 18 U.S.C. § 228. Both activities are authorized in this fiscal year and later fiscal years.
For expenses necessary for the Office of Inspector General in carrying out the provisions of the Inspector General Act of 1978, as amended, $33,849,000: Provided, That of such amount, necessary sums are available for providing protective services to the Secretary* and investigating non-payment of child support cases for which non-payment is a Federal offense under section 228 of title 18, each of which activities is hereby authorized in this and subsequent fiscal years.
