42 U.S.C. § 8262b — Intergovernmental energy management planning and coordination

(a) Conference workshops — Working with the Secretary^* of Energy and the Task Force, the Administrator^* of General Services must hold regular workshops, every two years, in each of the 10 standard federal regions, on energy management, conservation, efficiency, and planning strategy. The Administrator must plan these with the Department of Energy and other federal agencies, and must invite — and listen to — federal, state^*, local, tribal, and county officials who work on energy issues.

(b) Focus of workshops — The workshops must focus on, though they aren't limited to (1) building strategies among federal, state, tribal, and local governments to coordinate energy policy and make the best use of intergovernmental energy resources for government buildings; (2) designing, building, maintaining, and retrofitting government facilities to be more energy efficient; (3) buying and using energy-efficient products; (4) sharing information on successful energy programs, technologies, and methods; and (5) giving technical help to design good energy management strategies.

(c) Establishment of workshop timetable — In its first report under section 8262a, the Administrator must set out the schedule for these regional workshops. At least five workshops had to happen by September 30, 1993, and at least one must happen in each of the 10 federal regions every two years after that.
