The Secretary of Agriculture and the Secretary of the Interior must jointly report each year on Federal land treatment, wildfire risk and intensity, timber production, response times, infrastructure backlogs, water quality, and ecosystem resilience. The first report is due within 180 days after December 20, 2018.
Within 180 days after December 20, 2018, and every year after that, the Secretary and the Secretary of the Interior must jointly submit a written report to the listed House and Senate agriculture, natural-resources, and energy committees. The report must cover: (1) acres of Federal land treated by either Secretary for wildfire, insect infestation, or disease prevention; (2) Federal-land acres classified as high or extreme fire risk; (3) total Federal-land timber production; (4) acres and average fire intensity of wildfires affecting treated Federal land; (5) acres and average fire intensity of wildfires affecting untreated Federal land; (6) Federal response time for each fire larger than 25,000 acres; (7) miles of Federal-land roads and trails needing maintenance; (8) miles of Federal-land roads needing decommissioning; (9) the report-date maintenance backlog for Federal-land roads, trails, and recreational facilities; (10) other measures needed to maintain, improve, or restore Federal-land water quality; and (11) other measures needed to improve Federal-land ecosystem function or resilience.
Not later than 180 days after December 20, 2018, and every year thereafter, the Secretary and the Secretary of Interior 1 shall submit to the Committee on Agriculture of the House of Representatives, the Committee on Natural Resources of the House of Representatives, the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry of the Senate, and the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate a jointly written report on—
the number of acres of Federal land treated by the Secretary or the Secretary of the Interior for wildfire, insect infestation, or disease prevention;
the number of acres of Federal land categorized as a high or extreme fire risk;
the total timber production from Federal land;
the number of acres and average fire intensity of wildfires affecting Federal land treated for wildfire, insect infestation, or disease prevention;
the number of acres and average fire intensity of wildfires affecting Federal land not treated for wildfire, insect infestation, or disease prevention;
the Federal response time for each fire on greater than 25,000 acres;
the number of miles of roads and trails on Federal land in need of maintenance;
the number of miles of roads on Federal land in need of decommissioning;
the maintenance backlog, as of the date of the report, for roads, trails, and recreational facilities on Federal land;
other measures needed to maintain, improve, or restore water quality on Federal land; and
other measures needed to improve ecosystem function or resiliency on Federal land.
