This subchapter does not override or change State water law or an interstate water compact. The Secretary must follow State water laws while carrying out this subchapter.
(a) In general. Nothing in this subchapter overrides or affects State water law or an interstate compact governing water.
(b) Compliance required. The Secretary* must comply with State water laws when carrying out this subchapter. Nothing in this subchapter affects or overrides State water law or an interstate compact governing water.
Nothing in this subchapter preempts or affects State water law or an interstate compact governing water.
The Secretary* shall comply with State water laws in carrying out this subchapter. Nothing in this subchapter affects or preempts State water law or an interstate compact governing water.
