43 U.S.C. § 390oo — Temporary supplies of water

(a) Limitations inapplicable: Neither this subchapter's ownership limits, nor the ownership limits anywhere else in federal reclamation law, apply to land that receives only a temporary water supply — no more than one year — when that water comes from: (1) an unusually large water supply that the project can't otherwise store; or (2) infrequent, otherwise-unmanaged flood flows that don't last long. (b) Waiver of payment for temporary water supplies: The Secretary has the authority to waive payment for water supplied under subsection (a).
