This section bars further Government geological surveys unless a law authorizes them. It extends public surveys over mineral lands and permits local subdivision surveys at claimants’ expense, but excludes waste or useless lands from any required survey.
The Government may not conduct any further geological survey unless a law authorizes it. Public surveys must cover all mineral lands. County and local surveyors may subdivide surveyed land into lots smaller than 160 acres, paid for by the claimants. This section does not require surveying waste or useless lands.
There shall be no further geological survey by the Government, unless authorized by law. The public surveys shall extend over all mineral lands; and all subdividing of surveyed lands into lots less than one hundred and sixty acres may be done by county and local surveyors at the expense of claimants; but nothing in this section contained shall require the survey of waste or useless lands.
