44 U.S.C. § 102 — Joint Committee on Printing: succession; powers during recess

This section is not split into lettered parts, but it covers three related points. First, members of the Joint Committee on Printing who get reelected to the next Congress keep serving on the committee until their replacements are chosen. Second, on the last day of a Congress, the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House must each appoint members of their own chamber who were just elected to the next Congress, to fill any committee vacancies that are about to open up. Those newly appointed members, along with reelected members, keep serving until their replacements are chosen. Third, even when Congress is not in session, the Joint Committee can use all of its normal powers and duties, the same as when Congress is meeting.
