Only Government-published books designated by the Secretary of State may be supplied to a United States legation or consulate. The designation must be recorded in the State Department as suitable and needed for that post.
A United States legation or consulate may be supplied only with books published by the Government, usually called “Public Documents,” that the Secretary of State first designates as suitable for and needed by that legation or consulate. The Secretary must make the designation by an order recorded in the State Department.
Only books published by the Government, and usually known by the name of “Public Documents,” may be supplied to a legation or consulate of the United States as are first designated by the Secretary of State, by an order to be recorded in the State Department, as suitable for and required by the legation and consulate.
