The Archivist must put each Act’s bill or joint-resolution number in the margin references of the Statutes at Large, in brackets under the approval date, beginning with volume 32.
Beginning with volume 32 of the United States Statutes at Large, the Archivist must include in each Act’s margin references the number of the bill or joint resolution under which it was approved and became law. The notation must identify Senate bills as “S.,” House bills as “H.R.,” Senate joint resolutions as “S.J. Res.,” and House joint resolutions as “H.J. Res.” It must appear in brackets immediately under the Act’s approval date at the beginning of the printed Act.
The Archivist of the United States shall include in the references in margins of the United States Statutes at Large the number of the bill or joint resolution (designating S. for Senate bill, H.R. for House bill, S.J. Res. for Senate joint resolution and H.J. Res. for House joint resolution, as the case may be) under which each Act was approved and became a law, the reference in the margins to be placed within brackets immediately under the date of the approval of the Act at the beginning of each Act as printed beginning with Volume 32 of the United States Statutes at Large.
