This section defines "fisheries" for this title of maritime law. It covers processing, storing, planting, catching, or harvesting fish, shellfish, marine animals, pearls, shells, or marine plants. It applies in U.S. navigable waters or the exclusive economic zone, but excludes foreign-commerce transport.
This section defines "fisheries" for this title. The term includes processing, storing, transporting, planting, cultivating, catching, taking, or harvesting fish, shellfish, marine animals, pearls, shells, or marine vegetation. This applies to activity in the navigable waters of the United States or in the exclusive economic zone*. One activity is excluded: transporting these things as part of foreign commerce does not count as "fisheries" under this definition.
In this title, the term “fisheries” includes processing, storing, transporting (except in foreign commerce), planting, cultivating, catching, taking, or harvesting fish, shellfish, marine animals, pearls, shells, or marine vegetation in the navigable waters of the United States or in the exclusive economic zone*.
